Game of Thrones: why Bran could be the main character in Season 8

Bran Stark has a role in some of the key moments in Game of Thrones, and yet his role has been small recently - at least for a character who can see the full story of the world. From his fall from a window in Season 1 to realizing Jon Snow's origins, Bran or the Three-eyed raven one of the decisive characters in the fantasy series.

Before the start of the 8th season, we look at his way into the finale and explain why he is the most important figure of the last six episodes could be. Bran's connection to the Night King, which is almost on, is crucial Harry Potter and Voldemort remind.

That last happened with Bran in Game of Thrones

In Season 7 of Game of Thrones, Sansa and Arya find their brother completely changed. He is no longer Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), as he explains to his former companion Meera, but the one Three-eyed raven. And let's be honest, he's also a little scary. Bran behaves like a teenager who has just read Sartre and looks a little distant at the unenlightened rank and file.

The three-eyed raven gives his sister Arya the dagger with which Jon Arryn was murdered. So he plays an important role in the conviction and conviction of Littlefinger.

Bran and Hodor in Game of Thrones

In addition, in season 7 you could see how close it was Bran and the Night King are connected. Bran sees the movement of the undead army thanks to his warg skills, but the Night King can sense his presence. Bran or the three-eyed raven is also watching the fall of the wall at the end of the last season of Game of Thrones.

Bran and the Night King - an uncanny connection

As a three-eyed raven, Bran is a Greenseer or Green seeras magically gifted representatives of the Children of the Forrest were called, who inhabited Westeros thousands of years ago. We have already seen some of its powers:

  • Warg powerswith which he can control other beings.
  • The view of the past, present and future.

According to legend, the Greenseers should have sent trees and animals into battle. Bran could therefore make a decisive contribution to the fight against the White Walkers if the authors investigate these aspects. Either way, he's already one of the most powerful characters in the Game of Thrones universe.

Although it's a fantasy series, very few characters in Game of Thrones have them supernatural powers. Exceptions are Melisandre and the Night King (and the lightning-fast sprinter Gendry).

Of all the characters, Bran seems to be the closest match to the Night King - not so much in combat, but in power and foresight. Both are ancient beings in Westeros.

This is why Bran could become so important in Season 8 of Game of Thrones

Bran's connection to the Night King is almost reminiscent of that between Harry and Voldemort in the Harry Potter books.

The Night King feels Bran's connection for miles. He even touched or, believe us fan theories, "marked" Bran. Some understand this to explain why the Night King was able to tear down the icy wall.

In an interview with EW, Night King actor Vladimir 'Furdo' Furdik explained about his villain's story in season 8:

Viewers will see [the Night King] one Goal that he wants to kill, and you'll find out who that is.

Neither Jon nor Daenerys seem to be real dangers for his way south from the Night King's point of view. He shows little interest in Jon and has forced Daenerys to flee with a javelin throw.

It works quite differently "Relationship" with Branwho is downright chased by the Night King. He could be the target the villain wants to kill in season 8.

The Night King in Game of Thrones

But why? Bran can see past and future he could be the key for defeating the White Walker.

At least there was one Long night, an eternal winter and an invasion from the north defeated by a coalition of the living. Only the details are a bit unclear. Then there is the never-to-die fan theory that Bran is actually the Night King via time travel ...

Here are Bran's chances of winning the Iron Throne

As a three-eyed raven, Bran is no longer bound to the trivialities of the human world, so he is likely to fail as a power player in the battle for the Iron Throne.

It is likely to be more important whether he is elsewhere in the Fight against the Night King intervenes or is overshadowed by his siblings as an observer.

Will Bran survive the Game of Thrones finale?

The connection between Bran and Night King does not have to automatically mean that the two will face each other in the final - so that we have the final battle ahead of us here.

Let's pull the Lord of the rings as a comparison, Frodo's struggle against Sauron is ultimately more exciting than that of Gandalf against Sauron, because the forces are more unevenly distributed.

It is also conceivable that Bran as a target only makes the Night King underestimate more urgent dangers before his eyes. Those who breathe fire, for example - or those who have no magical powers, but who do reveal as heroes whose return has been sung for centuries.

Since the three-eyed raven is above worldly things (and bodies), a life or death of Bran in season 8 seems secondary anyway.
