How are archangels described in the Bible?

What do angels look like

Angels are spiritual beings (Hebrews 1:14), so they do not have an essentially physical form. However, angels have the ability to appear in human form. When angels appeared to people in the Bible, they looked like normal men. In Genesis 18: 1-19, God and two angels appeared as men and even shared a meal with Abraham. Angels often appear as men throughout the Bible (Joshua 5: 13-15; Mark 16: 5); they never appear in the form of a woman.

Other times, angels did not appear as humans but as something from another world, and their appearance was terrifying and frightening to those who saw them. Often times, the first few words from an angel are "don't be afraid" because extreme fear was a common reaction. The guards at the tomb of Jesus became like dead men when they saw the angel of the Lord (Matthew 28: 4). The shepherds in the fields in Luke 2 “were very afraid” when the angel of the Lord stepped up to them and the clarity of the Lord shone around them.

Physically, they are sometimes described with wings. The image of the cherubim on the ark had wings that covered the mercy seat (Exodus 25:20). Isaiah saw Seraphim with wings in his vision of the throne in heaven, each with six wings (Isaiah 6: 2). Ezekiel had visions of angels with wings. Isaiah 6: 1-2 depicts angels with human features - voices, faces, and feet. Angel voices can be heard singing in various passages and praising God. One of the most complete descriptions of an angel is in Daniel 10: 5-6: “And lifted up my eyes, and looked, and, behold, there stood a man wearing linen clothes and a gold belt around his loins. His body was like a topaz, his face looked like lightning, his eyes like fiery torches, his arms and feet like bright, shiny bronze, and his speech was like a great roar. ”The angel at the grave of Jesus became more similar Wisely described: "His appearance was like lightning, and his garment white as snow" (Matthew 28: 3).

Whatever shape angels take, there is reason enough to assume that they are incredibly beautiful. Ezekiel tells us that Lucifer rose full of Storz to be full of his splendor and beauty. Furthermore, beings who constantly live in the presence of God might be expected to be extraordinarily beautiful because God's glory is reflected over all who are near him.
